Christine Wilkas
Ocean Fever Vice President

Christine Wilkas hails from Chicago, and is the youngest of 7 children in a very close family.  Her annual spring break trips to Florida as a child and her travels around the world for pleasure and work opened her eyes to the beauty and wonder of the ocean.

Professional Background

Christine currently serves as the Operations & Marketing Manager at p1440 - a beach volleyball event producer and online community that supports living an optimal life.  Christine has production experience in large-scale reality and sports TV productions including Survivor, Eco-Challenge, and Ironman World Championship in Kona to name a few.  She also handled media affairs for the Make-A-Wish Foundation, a U.S. Presidential election and the U.S. Trade Representative's Office (a Cabinet Agency in the US Government).

Volunteer Experience

Christine spends her spare time volunteering in roles including a youth soccer coach, PTA President and VP roles and a chairperson of health/wellness programs at her kids’ schools.  She also serves on the Board of Directors for Ocean Fever and TeachingGreen, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing environmental education to the community.

Hobbies

Christine has completed 10 marathons (2 Boston Marathon finishes), too many running races to count, and 3 Half Ironman triathlons and several local Pier to Pier ocean swim competitions.  When not racing, she loves to travel, hang out with friends, ocean swim, kayak and sail over to Catalina Island where she swims, snorkels and trail runs.  Christine enjoys spending time with her husband, Matt, and their two sons, all of whom love to surf, swim, sail, fish and dive anywhere in the world but especially in the South Bay, Catalina Island and beyond.

It is an honor and blessing for our family to live so close to the beach and be a part of the South Bay community.  As a part of the Ocean Fever Board, I pledge to be an advocate for safe and clean ocean-related activities and to spread the ocean love to our community!
